Introduction to Vectors - Revision Notes
Revision Notes
What is a vector?
- A vector is a quantity that has both magnitude (size) and direction.
- Vectors are commonly represented by arrows, where the length of the arrow represents the magnitude and the direction of the arrow represents the direction of the vector.
Properties of vectors
- Vectors can be added, subtracted, and multiplied by a scalar (a number).
- The zero vector has a magnitude of 0 and no specific direction.
Exam tips
- Be able to represent vectors using arrow notation and describe their properties.
- Understand how to perform basic vector operations such as addition and scalar multiplication.
